Green Lantern pin-up

This one is a mystery to me.  The note says it's for something called a "3D Gallery" but I don't know if it was ever published.  DC put out a book called "Green Lantern 3D" in 1998 which sounds about right but the GCD doesn't mention this piece.  Pencils by Gil Kane.

  1. I believe it was printed in the "Legends of the DC Universe 3-D Gallery:" http://www.comics.org/series/18002/

  2. I like the shading and texture on the rocks. Looks like everything from cross hatching to dry brush.

You should teach a class on inking textures. From buildings to rocks to rubble, you seem to have a great knack for that. Reminds me a ton of Al Williamson when I see that stuff.

  3. My first thought was the LoDCU 3-D Gallery book Eddy linked to, but the piece doesn't appear there. Maybe it was intended for that, but not used for some technical or editorial reason. Green Lantern and Flash are both conspicuous by their absence among major DC characters given solo pages in the book, especially considering some of the third-raters included.

  4. I'm wondering if it was ever published anywhere at all. DC is usually pretty good about sending me samples and I never got a copy of the 3D book.
